On Wednesday 13 July we had our monthly awards and workshop. Congratulations to all the winners:
Young Entrepreneur of the Month:
Hannah Thompson (13) “Hannah’s Take”
Hannah sells a range of beautiful cards made using her original photos as well as necklaces and suncatchers.
This award is based on a fabulous original product that is also sustainable and draws awareness to the Cape’s unique floral kingdom. Her secondary products are great to add sales potential and draw attention to the stall. Her sales figures have been excellent and consistent, accounting sheets completed nicely and I have had excellent feedback from the secret shoppers. Congratulations Hannah!
Hannah has won a fabulous TWO HOUR PHOTOGRAPHY COACHING SESSION FROM CAPE PHOTO kindly sponsored by Peter Haarhof. For more on Cape Photo follow the 3 Penguins (3 Pikkewyne in Afrikaans) on FACEBOOK For tips on photography read the BLOG or follow them on TWITTER for my #PhotoTipsView more of the photographs on FLICKR and see how you can take photographs with an iPhone on INSTAGRAM and YouTube. Many thanks to them for this amazing prize and we look forward to seeing Hannah’s craft blossom.
Hannah has also started taking our event photos, between running her stall. Yesterday her photo was published in the People’s Post:

I really enjoyed the workshop as we unpacked some more detailed things this time. We looked at consumer education, optimising products and profits, costing and pricing as well as preparing for the summer season. We also looked at some security issues such as spotting fake notes and had a general discussion on the economy in SA and how to operate in this environment. We had some role play sales too.
Thank you to all who attended and I have certificates for those who were away on holiday.
This week we featured in the news again too:
Bookings are open for August and September. Please book via this link: https://pocketmoneymarket.com/market-stall-bookings-for-kids-from-3-to-16/
The next workshop and awards will be on 17 September.
I battle to keep up with email so you are welcome to contact me on 0833840590 for information or to arrange an event in your area.
Outreach is growing and I am looking for volunteers to assist these kids prepare and on market days if anyone is keen and also for new groups to join under the outreach arm. I could also really use a hand with PR, admin and on market days.
Thanks for supporting the Pocket Money Market!
